How we source & verify our data
We think you should know where this directory's information comes from — and, just as importantly, what we can and can't stand behind. Here's the honest version.
Where listings come from
Our directory of 503+ bin stores is compiled from public information — business listings and maps, store and Goodwill websites, the Facebook pages where most bin stores actually post, and direct submissions from shoppers and owners through our submit a store form. Bin stores are a famously hard-to-track category: many have no website and advertise only in local Facebook groups, so we pull from wherever the information genuinely exists.
Pricing & hours are reported, not guaranteed
The weekly price cycles and opening hours we show are reported — by the stores themselves, by shoppers, or by public listings. Bin store pricing changes constantly (that's the whole model), and a schedule that was right last month can be wrong today. We label this clearly on every store page and tell you to confirm with the store before a trip. We do not present reported prices or days as a promise, and we never invent a schedule, a price, or a review.
What we track for freshness
Stores close — especially in liquidation retail. We track store status and currently mark 30 locations as permanently closed rather than quietly deleting them, and every store page shows when its information was last updated. When a shopper reports that something has changed, that report feeds back into the listing.
Reviews & ratings
Where public ratings and reviews exist for a store, we surface them (342 stores currently have an aggregate rating). These reflect what real shoppers have said on public platforms — we don't write or solicit fake reviews, and we don't pad ratings. If a store has no reviews on file, we leave that section empty rather than filling it in.
What “verified” would mean — and why we're careful with the word
We deliberately don't slap a “Verified” badge on listings we haven't independently confirmed. To us, verified should mean a fact was checked against a primary source and dated — not that it simply exists in our database. As we confirm stores directly, we'll show that provenance honestly. Until then, treat the directory as a well-researched starting point, not a guarantee.
Help us keep it accurate
This directory gets better when shoppers and owners correct it. If a price cycle is off, a store has moved or closed, or details are missing, please submit an update. Spotting a problem and telling us is the single most useful thing you can do — and it helps the next treasure hunter too.
